Dr. Debleena Bhattacharya holds a doctoral degree in Environmental Science from Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad (India), where a major part of her doctoral research was to perform a comprehensive study based on the treatment of antibiotic residuals in the anaerobic hybrid reactor.

Her major skills are of Wastewater engineering and Treatment and eradication of toxic residues from water bodies (by anaerobic bacteria) which might lead to health issues in the near future.

At present she is working as an Assistant Professor in Department of Environmental Science and Engineering in MEFGI, Gujarat, India. Prior to joining MEFGI, Dr Debleena Bhattacharya worked in SRISTI (Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable Technologies and Institutions), an NGO based in Ahmedabad, joined as Research Fellow for BIRAC (Biotechnology Industrial Research Assistance Council) and gradually escalated as Project Co-Ordinator for BIRAC-SRISTI PMU,a joint venture of Government of India & NGO apart from being the laboratory Co-ordinator of SRISTI LAB.
