DR. DEBBIE WAKE is a Clinical Reader at University of Edinburgh and NHS Diabetes Consultant, (MBChB, BSc, PhD, Clin Ed Dip), and CEO/Co-Founder MyWay Digital Health (MWDH).
Debbie has an international reputation for technology, informatics and automated educational support for diabetes care. She has been Principal Investigator for multiple research/ innovation projects (>£4million funding) and is currently leading a £1million Innovate UK project to further develop diabetes clinical decision support fuelled by Artificial Intelligence. This includes the development of predictive algorithms for mortality, complications, hospitalization, diagnosis and personalized drug treatment. She has led international diabetes education programs in Kuwait and China. Debbie is a Diabetes UK Clinical Champion and is a 2017/18 NHS Innovation Accelerator Fellow (one of 11 in the UK) and one of 9 UK Women in Innovation Award winners.
Debbie Wake is clinical lead for MyDiabetesMyWay (MDMW), the only national diabetes self-management platform in the world, running across NHS Scotland since 2010 with >50,000 registrants. National and International awards include DUK Self-management award, QIC Diabetes self-care award, and European E-health adopters award. In 2017, Debbie co-founded MyWay Digital Health Ltd (MWDH), a University of Dundee spin-out company. As a result, MyDiabetesMyWay and associated clinician platform (MyDiabetes Clinical) are now being rolled out in NHS England and internationally.
