Dr. Sangeeta Sharma
Dr. Sangeeta Sharma is a distinguished Professor of Neuropsychopharmacology at the Institute of Human Behaviour & Allied Sciences (IHBAS) and President of the Delhi Society for Promotion of Rational Use of Drugs (DSPRUD). With qualifications including an MD in Pharmacology, QM&AHO, MBA (HCA), certification from the Harvard Medical School Quality Leadership Program (HQUAL), and Baldrige Excellence Framework training, she is also a certified External Assessor for NQAS. Dr. Sharma’s expertise spans clinical pharmacology, rational use of medicines—with a strong focus on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and medication safety—and quality improvement in healthcare. Her extensive professional career includes serving as Technical Coordinator for the India-WHO Essential Drugs Programme, Medical Superintendent, and Secretary of the Medical Council of India. A leading capacity-builder, she has conducted nearly 300 national and international workshops for clinicians, managers, and pharmacists. She is widely recognized for her pioneering publication, “Standard Treatment Guidelines: A Manual for Medical Therapeutics” (7th edition, 2024). Dr. Sharma also serves on multiple ethics committees across national and academic institutions and is the State Nodal Officer for AMR Containment, Delhi, where she continues to influence policy, education, and safe medication practices.
