Maj. Gen. Dr. Jagtar Singh, VSM
Major General (Dr.) Jagtar Singh, VSM (Retd.), is a highly accomplished leader in healthcare administration and a decorated military veteran, currently serving as the Executive Director of the Academy of Hospital Administration (AHA). With a distinguished career spanning over three decades in the Armed Forces Medical Services, he retired as the Ex-Additional Director General (Equipment & Stores) at the Ministry of Defence.
General Singh is a seasoned professional with deep academic credentials, including an MD in Hospital Administration from the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, a Master’s in Defence and Strategic Studies from the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), and a WHO Fellowship in Health Economics. His expertise is further honed by advanced training in healthcare management at IIM Ahmedabad.
Throughout his tenure, he demonstrated exceptional leadership by commanding a large, 600-bedded multispecialty military hospital and successfully executing international projects like the India Tajikistan Friendship Hospital. For his exemplary service, he was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM). Post-Army, he served as the Director Medical Services at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals and is an active Assessor for both NABH and the CII Malcolm Baldridge Healthcare Excellence Awards. His core areas of specialization are healthcare strategy, quality management, and hospital planning and designing.
