Dr. Shirshendu Mukherjee
Dr. Shirshendu Mukherjee is the Managing Director of the Wadhwani Innovation Network (NEN) at the Wadhwani Foundation. He is a highly accomplished professional with over 30 years of experience as a microbiologist, with a career that spans academia, the pharmaceutical industry, and funding agencies. Dr. Mukherjee has made extensive contributions to fostering the innovation ecosystem, both in India and internationally.
Academically, he holds a Ph.D. in microbiology and a law degree. He has furthered his professional development by completing leadership programs at prestigious institutions, including the Said Business School at the University of Oxford and the Global Health Leadership course at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. He is also recognized as a Registered Technology Transfer Professional (RTTP).
Dr. Mukherjee maintains several key advisory and leadership roles across the innovation and science sectors. He serves as an Honorary Scientific Advisor to the Indian Patent Office, acts as the Country Ambassador for the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine & Hygiene (RSTMH) in India, and is the General Secretary of the Society for Technology Management (STEM). Additionally, he is a Board member of the Indo-US Science and Technology Forum. In his role at the Wadhwani Foundation, he leverages this profound background to accelerate innovation and entrepreneurship.
